Rye Barcott
Managing Partner and Co-Founder

Rye is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Double Time Capital. He previously founded and led a new-energy investments team as a special advisor to the CEO of Duke Energy. He is a former captain in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the Horn of Africa and Iraq. He also co-founded the non-governmental organization Carolina For Kibera (CFK), based in the Kibera slum of Kenya. Rye’s recent board affiliations include CFK, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, and the UNC Institute for the Environment. He is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was an NROTC midshipman, Harvard Business School, and Harvard Kennedy School, where he served on the Harvard Endowment’s Advisory Committee on Shareholder Responsibility.

Dan McCready
Managing Partner and Co-Founder

Dan is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Double Time Capital. He was formerly a consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on clean energy and environmental services. Dan began his career in the United States Marine Corps, where he led a platoon in Iraq and was honorably discharged as a captain. Dan also founded This Land, an online retailer promoting America’s craftsmen. He is a Truman Fellow, an Eagle Scout, and a recent director or adviser at the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association and Trinity Episcopal School in Charlotte. Dan is a graduate of Harvard Business School, Duke University, and Myers Park High School in Charlotte.

Julie Plowden
Chief Financial Officer

Julie provides outsourced financial and back-office services to Double Time and its funds. She is a CPA with over 20 years of experience. Julie was formerly the Director of Finance for Parish Capital Advisors (which sold to the StepStone Group), an investment fund of funds with over $2 billion of assets under management, where she oversaw back-office administration, accounting, and reporting. Earlier in her career, she served as a senior tax manager for Ernst & Young LLP, where she focused on real estate and venture capital. Julie is an active member of her church in Raleigh, North Carolina, recently helping lead its church-wide prayer request program. She is a graduate of Clemson University.

Tom Darden

Tom is the founder and CEO of Cherokee Investment Partners, a mission-oriented investment firm in Raleigh, North Carolina with over $2 billion of cumulative assets under management — and a leading national investor in the redevelopment of environmentally contaminated areas. He was formerly chairman of Cherokee Sanford Group and a consultant at Bain & Company. Tom is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and Yale Law School.

Charles E. Merritt

Charles is a special adviser to Hatteras Venture Partners, a venture capital firm in Durham, North Carolina with a focus on North Carolina companies. He was recently the Executive Director of the Minor in Entrepreneurship and an Entrepreneur in Residence at UNC-Chapel Hill. Charles founded Parish Capital Advisors (which sold to the StepStone Group), an investment fund of funds with over $2 billion of assets under management. Charles is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and the Tuck School of Business.

Aleta Williams

Aleta is the Director of Business Development and Diversification for the international non-profit FHI 360, based in Durham, North Carolina. Previously, she worked at GRM International (now the Palladium Group), the U.S. Agency for International Development, and McKinsey & Company. She serves on the boards of the Batonga Foundation and UNICEF USA — Mid-Atlantic Region. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and her master’s degree from George Washington University.
